Wedding Favors

Since I am positive our guests will not appreciate our giveaways that has our name or picture on it, I decided to give edible favors instead. Here are some of the ideas that we are considering:

Candies in jar

Hershey's Kisses
Nuggets

Personalized M&M's

I am inlove with chocolates so I wanna share my love for them with my guests. :) What do you think?

Update: DIY Project

Sharing our save the date and escort cards (half way done; need to look for the perfect cardstock and label).

Escort card inspiration (mine is bigger  coz i want our male guests to wear them during the program)
bow ties (will make more using different fabric)
DIY Save the date cards

Any ideas for the female escort cards?

363 days to go!

I've been busy with so many things this past few weeks so I couldn't find time to blog about our wedding updates. Anyway, here's a summary of what we have accomplished so far (after my last blog post):

1. Finally found our Church and;
2. Reception
3. Wedding theme is final (I initially wanted a rustic vintage theme using burlap and lace but the h2b wanted to see more colors so we decided to have a shabby chic wedding instead)
4. Save the date template done
5. Non-traditional wedding cake

Things that I should really be working on right now:
1. Entourage list
2. Guest list (because I need to know the number of male and female attending - for our bow tie escort cards)
3. DIY's

11 months and a few more weeks to go until the dream wedding becomes a reality!

Videographer: Booked!

Okay so, our one-year mark is coming close and we haven't bookeed our venue and church yet. But we've booked naman the rest of our major suppliers so hooray for us pa rin. :) And yesterday nga, we finalized the deal with Blissful House Digital.

http://www.blissfulhousedigital.com

I decided to get them as our videographer because they are the cheapest in the market. They had a 20k promo (2 photographers, 2 videographers) last March but I didn't avail of that promo because we've already booked Pictratto during the February fair. Anyway, Michael (the owner) gave me a good deal. Since I inquired with them before their price increase, they still gave me their old rates.

Here's what's included in the package:

3 Videographers
Full wedding coverage
Use of glide cam/track
Cinematic Highlights in CD
Raw files in CD

For 15k, they gave me 3 videographers already. Sulit na di ba? Originally, it should be 2 videographers lang and SDE for 15k. E since, we're not planning to have AVP presentation during the reception, I asked Michael if he could give me 3 videographers instead. And he's kind enough to say yes naman. :)

Now I should really focus on looking for our church and venue. Ayaw kong ikasal sa kalsada. :(

Felt Rose Tutorial

For those practical brides out there (and those who want a non-floral bouquet), here's a guide on how to do your own felt rose.

1. Trace your pattern on the cloth and cut accordingly. Make sure there are no pen marks. (Send me a message if you need a copy of my pattern).

2. Roll the felt starting from the outside and continue rolling (and adding glue gun from time to time) until you reach the base.

3. Make sure you don't press when you roll. Light lang dapat if you want a fuller rose.

4. The base should look like this.

And here's the finished product:

Simple huh? You don't need to be artsy to make a felt rose. You just need to be PATIENT!

You can also make a felt rose using any kind of cloth. Will post a different tutorial for that.

HMUA: Booked!

Since we don't want to spend so much on our wedding, we decided not to get high-end suppliers. We'd rather save and prepare for our married life than spend hundreds of thousands on a single day. It's just a one-day affair after all.

Now, since we've already booked most of our major suppliers, I think the next supplier I should look for is the one who can make my h2b want me even more (haha!). Syempre baka biglang mag-backout pag nakitang ang pangit ko sa araw ng kasal lol. BUT of course, I don't want to spend too much naman on make up lang. Feeling ko naman hindi extreme makeover ang gagawin sa akin so no need to look for high-end makeup artist talaga (feeling beautiful, e). Anyway, after several days of research and price comparison, we finally found our HMUA! Yey!

Peso power: PHP 8,000

What's included in the package?

Airbrush for bride, groom + 2 heads
1k for additional head
Free ang flower girls

Now, who will make me look like a Goddess on my BIG day? Syempre, the one and only ~ Tippy Destacamento! (Sa kanya nakasalalay ang simula ng buhay mag-asawa namin. Haha!)

Wedding Rings Dilemma

Last Monday, my fiance and I went to check our wedding rings at Suarez Gateway. I was really excited to see how our final rings look like. I fell inlove with them during the Getting Married Bridal Fair at SMX so even if the price is already above our allotted budget, I asked Dj if we can get them (and he said yes! Hooray!). So we book Suarez on the spot (1k lang naman ang down payment, e).

Anyway, as we see our final rings I didn't get the same feeling I had during the fair. Honestly, I was quite disappointed with the rings. The thickness is different from the mock rings we tried during the fair. The matte finish (yellow gold) was poorly done (sorry for the term, disappointed lang talaga ako). I was expecting a different look kasi hindi yung parang ini-scrape lang talaga. So I called their MOA branch last Tuesday (since SMX kami nagbook, our record is with their MOA branch daw) and told them our concerns.

Two days after, they gave us three options:
1. If we like our rings to have the same thickness as the ones they have in display, we need to pay the difference of 23k (we got our rings for 24k during the fair) plus 10k because our rings are already finished.
2. Since I didn't like the matte look of our rings, I asked them if they can polish the YG instead. Again, we need to pay a 10k additional for this request.
3. Stick with our ring.

Sobrang nakaka-disappoint!

Now, we're thinking of cancelling our order and buy in other store instead. 1k lang naman mawawala sa amin if ever, compared to the 23k if we decide to continue the purchase.

Lesson learned, always ask questions (if possible, ipalagay lahat ng details na napagusapan sa contract or receipt).

Booked Suppliers

Our wedding is set on May 2014, but as early as now, I want to book all the majors suppliers. First because I'm excited (I don't deny it naman) and second, because of the price lock. This is the first thing that I learned from my fellow b2b's in GT and w@w. Since majority of the suppliers will most likely increase their rates in 2014 (again), it would be beneficial for us to book them while they still have their 2013 (or 2012) rates.

Here's the list of our (booked) suppliers:

Caterer:
Purpledish - I got a very good rate from Chef V. Plus the food is great! Sayang lang he didn't give me a free cake.

Here are some of the pics from our FT last January:

soup

dessert (cake + pastries)
nakain na namin yung food namin kaya nakipicture na lang. haha!

mock set up by Stylento

Photographer:
Pictratto - booked them during Feb bridal fair at SMX. We got them for 15k only. Full wedding coverage, 2-3 photographers, prenup (fusion), 10 prints. They are the cheapest na during the fair but their works are really good. What a steal di ba?

Rings:
Suarez -we originally plan to buy our wedding rings in Ongpin para mura. But we saw a very nice ring from Suarez with only 1k deposit so book them on the spot (SMX fair din). The rings come with a free diamond each and engraving. We also got a free cake slicer (with engraving din). Yey!

Here's our ring (from Suarez website):

I asked them to make the YG matte instead. Free naman daw ipa-customize.

Venue:
Alpadi Estate - pencil booked them for our May 2014 wedding. Will do an ocular first with the churches of Antipolo before confirming the booking.

The entire place can accommodate up to 300 guests. And since we only have 150 guests, perfect talaga to. I grabbed some pics from Alpadi's website:

the venue is perfect for my vintage garden wedding!
covered area malapit sa bangin

Church:
OLA in Marikina - calendar for 2014 weddings will open on May 2013 pa.
St. Therese Church in Masinag - haven't visited the place yet. Sana makaramdam ako ng this is it feeling.

To book:
Videographer
HMUA

Hopefully, I can book all the major suppliers by March. So I can start with our Save the Date and invitations na rin. Excited ako, eh!

Felt Bouquet: The beginning of my DIY adventure

I've been busy reading articles and tutorials on how to make felt rose. It took me a while to find the perfect pattern and materials (and some motivation to start this project).

Here are the materials I used for my trial bouquet:

Red felt cloth
Styro ball (small)
Glue gun + glue stick
Pearl buttons

I tried a two-color bouquet. I'm not good in combining colors so I decided to  use red and cream .

Cream rose as the center.

Here's a close up of the pearl button I bought in Taytay.

I wasn't able to buy green felt so there are no leaves yet. Also, the bouquet is only halfway done (no stem/handle). Will post updated pics as soon as it's finished. :)

The Felt Cloth Adventure

Early this month, my fiancĂ© and I went to Divisoria to look for supplies for our DIY's. I want to start doing my felt bouquet first so we decided to visit Ilaya (mura daw dito ang felt cloth, eh).

We're not from Manila so we had a hard time looking for the place. Even with a map on hand, we still got lost. So we asked for directions instead. Unfortunately, the people we asked didn't know where to buy fabrics in Ilaya as well. They kept telling us to go back to 168 mall (ha? e sila na nga tong nasa Manila!). So we kept walking and asking for directions until we finally arrived at our destination. Although there are many fabric stores in Ilaya, I was able to find only one merchant of felt cloth (forgot the store name pa! But at least we were able to find one before losing our mind sa init, kakahanap at sa dami ng tao >.<).

I bought 6 different colors: pink, red, peach, cream, ivory and gray, with 1 yard each for my trial bouquet. I'm happy with the colors that I purchased. However, when we got home, it is when I realized I forgot to buy green felt  for the leaves. Booo! me = fail

Anyway, we also visited Tabora (next to Ilaya) to buy beads, wires, and other tools for our accessories (cord, bouts, etc). We didn't explore the other stores in Tabora except for Wellmanson since we are both tired already.

Next time we visit Ilayat and Tabora, I'll buy more felt (color green is on my top list now), burlap and other tools/accessories.

It all started here...

I always wanted to make my own blog but I don't know how to start. I can't think of any interesting topics to share the internet. My life is boring, I don't have a talent, I don't have a business, I'm not into photography and most importantly, I don't know how to write. booo! >.<

So, why start now? Last December 2012, I got engaged with the love of my life. We started out as friends in high school, then we became lovers in college, and now that we're both professionals, we are ready to become one (sorry, sobrang cheesy!) Anyway, I want to monitor the progress of our wedding preps and to share everyone my DIY's. Yes, I plan to DIY most of the items we need on our wedding. I love crafts, and we want to be practical (so definitely, there's going to be a lot of DIY's).
